LOVE
SCRIPTURE: Matt. 13:29 ‘No,’ he replied, ‘you’ll uproot the wheat if you do. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest. Then I will tell the harvesters to sort out the weeds, tie them into bundles, and burn them, and to put the wheat in the barn.’
OBSERVATION: Too often we in the church feel like it is our job to figure out who are the weeds and who are the wheat. When we try to judge and uproot we end up destroying those who are sincere true followers. God makes it clear this this judging is His job and He will do it, mainly, later.
APPLICATION/CONFESSION: I need to love those God brings my way in the church I pastor. It is not my job to pull them up and examine their roots--thereby destroying some that are real followers. My job is to love and serve them all and let God sort them out.
PRAYER: Lord, give me the grace not to judge before the right time. You are the judge, I am not. Help me to remember that my hamfisted attempts to judge will do more harm than good.
