Problem Child or Delightful Child

SCRIPTURE: Psa. 18:19 he rescued me because he delights in me.

OBSERVATION: God delights in us!! What a delightful thought. That we could give God joy. That the God of all the universe could look at us and find something in us that brings Him pleasure--amazing. We may be tempted to think that God rescues us because He has to--He is forced to by the covenant He committed Himself to. The truth is way better than that, He rescues us because He deeply cares about us. That is a truly wonderful thought.

APPLICATION/CONFESSION: I feel, so often, like the child that is always getting in trouble and God as my Father finds His greatest joy when I'm asleep and He doesn't have to worry about me get into any more trouble. But here it says that He delights in me. It is almost more than I can comprehend. I want to believe it. I want to be a child who is delighted in. I don't want to be the "problem child", I want to be the Child of Delight.

PRAYER: God--I can't hardly believe it--You delight in me. Help me to see Your face of love and delight and accept that You can feel that way about me.
