Sometimes I'm The Last to Know

SCRIPTURE: Psa. 19:12 How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from these hidden faults.

OBSERVATION: This a great added insight to the earlier scripture where Jesus tells us that sin comes from the heart. Here we learn that we may need to ask God to reveal sin that hides within our hearts. We have such a capacity for self-deception, for denial, for rationalization. Our only real hope of having a pure heart is if God reveals what is going on there.

APPLICATION/PRAYER: I know that there are things in my heart that only God can bring to light. I know that, in some areas, I am the last to understand my deepest, heart level motivations. I need God's revealing work in order to bring this to light and change me.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, I pray with David; Show me the sin that hides in my heart. Cleanse me from those hidden faults that only you know about. I want to have a pure heart.
