2/12/2008 - God's Jealousy Problem Exodus 34:14

 God's Jealousy Problem

SCRIPTURE: Exo. 34:14 You must worship no other gods, for the Lord, whose very name is Jealous, is a God who is jealous about his relationship with you.

OBSERVATION:
Think about that. Look at the sky and look at the stars and just let it sink in; the God who created all of this, a God of that kind of power and majesty and awesomeness, loves us so much that He is truly jealous when we give our deepest affection to anyone or anything besides Him. Who are we that God should even notice who we are or who we love.

OBSERVATION/CONFESSION:
It is so easy for my heart to be captured by another love. To look to something, beside God. to meet my needs, to be an object of worship. If God knows me enough and cares deeply enough about me to be jealous, how can I respond except with love in return.

PRAYER:
I am amazed that you could care so much about me that you who has everything, who needs nothing, who has billions of beings worshipping you, should jealous of the affection of my heart. How could I, a mortal of mortals, move you, God of the universe. Remind me that you are jealous of my affections and keep me loving only you.
