The Formula for Prosperity
SCRIPTURE: Psa. 34:12-14 Does anyone want to live a life that is long and prosperous? 13 Then keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies! 14 Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it.
OBSERVATION: Here is a simple but effective formula for a good and long life; speak positively about people and life, tell the truth even when it hurts, simply do the right thing and pursue peace instead of conflict.
Our words program our life. Proverbs tells us that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Telling the truth is a success strategy.
So many people tells half-truths and lies and the result is that no one trusts them so they never succeed. No one is willing to work with them.
Dealing with stress? The first way to overcome it is to do the right thing. When we are living in a way that we know is not right, the result is stress and tension that can literally shorten our lives.
Certainly conflict is the same way; if we don't make the effort to live in peace, especially in our families, and it does take effort, the result is also is a shorter, less enjoyable life.
APPLICATION/CONFESSION: I need to make sure my mouth reflects the very positive truths about life that God has made clear in His word. I know that my words program my life and I want to, even more, use that power to say what God says about me--He loves me and wants to bless me and give me a great future.
PRAYER: Lord, thank You that You would want to give me a long and prosperous life. Help me to keep my tongue from saying what Satan wants me to say and to speak your truth on every occasion. Please warn me when my tongue is about to program my life in the wrong way.
