2/14/2008 - God To The Rescue Psalms 34:18-19

God To The Rescue

SCRIPTURE: Psa. 34:18-19 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. 19 The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.
OBSERVATION:
What a great promise this is to all of us--God cares about us, in fact, is especially close to us when we are broken hearted and our spirit's are crushed. It sometimes feels, in those moments, that no one cares, even God, but the truth is that God is near and cares. We have to open our hearts to believe it, look for it and accept that it is true. No one care comfort us the way that He can--if we will let Him.

We would like to believe that if we are following God and doing the right thing that we will not face trouble. This scripture tells us the truth--righteous people face many troubles. The good news? God Himself reaches down to rescue us each time. What a great promise and a great comfort.

We need to pray believing that this is true.
APPLICATION/CONFESSION:
I need to live in the confidence that no matter what difficulties I face, if I am responding rightly to it, God has promised to rescue me each time. I need to hold on to that truth.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, I know I will face times that break my heart and crush my spirit. May you always remind me how close you are to me at those time. I am so thankful for your grace and love towards me and your commitment to rescue me from my troubles.
