2/16/2010 - A God Who Cares Mark 1:40-41
A God Who Cares SCRIPTURE: Mark 1:40-41 A man with leprosy came and knelt in front of Jesus, begging to be healed. “If you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean,” he said. 41 Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” OBSERVATION: How did this man receive his healing? He believed that Jesus had the power to heal him and to make him clean. He took the initiative to importune Jesus for his healing. What do we see about Jesus? He was moved with compassion and that is what led Him to heal the man. It is easy for us to see Jesus as so much greater and more powerful than we are. It may be hard for us to conceive of Him having compassion; common feeling, deep concern, for (relatively) small issues that we deal with. The truth is that one of the reasons Christ came to earth is to show us that He is touched with the pain of the things we suffer with. He came to make it clear that He understands. When we really grasp that, then we can have the confidence to ask and keep on asking for His touch because He is a God of compassion.
