The Key to Effective Seeding

REFERENCE: Mark 3:19 but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life, the lure of wealth, and the desire for other things, so no fruit is produced.

OBSERVATION:
Notice that there are three things that most usually trip us up and make us unfruitful in spite of the seed of the Word God plants in us: worry, desire for money and looking for pleasure in this life.

Worry keeps our focus off of being productive for Him. It makes us think about a lot of things that often don't even happen and those that do are seldom are horrible as we anticipated.

The desire for money puts our attention on the stuff of this world rather than God's Kingdom. It makes us materialists and they are not very effective for God.

The pursuit of pleasure has the power to make us captives to it's demands. We become prisoners to our own wants and needs and can't, even if we want to, respond to God's call to fruitfulness.

APPLICATION/CONFESSION: God has planted so much in the soil of my life. I have a great responsibility to be fertile soil. I know that I am too often carried away in my pursuit of the enjoyment of pleasure. Not necessarily sinful ones, just distracting ones that God would have me set aside, for the moment, for His purposes. I need to, more often, listen and respond.

PRAYER:
Lord, how can I say thanks for all You have invested in me. Help me to make the soil of my heart to be more fertile. I want to produce a harvest for Your Kingdom--a big one! Please produce it through me as I allow You to.
