Jack Rabbit or Steady Sam

REFERENCE: Mark 4:26 Jesus also said, “The Kingdom of God is like a farmer who scatters seed on the ground. 27 Night and day, while he’s asleep or awake, the seed sprouts and grows, but he does not understand how it happens. 28 The earth produces the crops on its own. First a leaf blade pushes through, then the heads of wheat are formed, and finally the grain ripens. 29 And as soon as the grain is ready, the farmer comes and harvests it with a sickle, for the harvest time has come.”

Psa. 37:34 Put your hope in the Lord. Travel steadily along his path. He will honor you by giving you the land.

OBSERVATION:
What is the key to making life work? The kind of stuff we often hate to do--just doing the right thing over and over again believing that, in the right time, it will make a difference. It's hard but true. What makes a difference in raising kids (I should know, I raised 5) not the one time, "lets go to Disneyland" moments but the day to day steady consistent traveling on the right path. Plant the seeds, take care of them, wait and harvest in the right season. You will receive what God has promised if you stay faithful.

CONFESSION/APPLICATION: I can be a, "do it once and get it done" kind of person. I would like to work out about once a month and do it real hard so that its all done for a while and I can forget it. I would like to spend several days all at once with the family and figure that they will not need me for a while. The saner part of me knows that it is consistency over time that really makes the difference. If I am going to have a harvest, if I am going to reap what I sow, it will take patient, steady consistency.

PRAYER: Lord, give me the grace to keep on doing the stuff You have given me to do. Keep me from impatience and give me joy in the journey.
