Healing With Spit--Eewww!

Reference: Mark 7:32 A deaf man with a speech impediment was brought to him, and the people begged Jesus to lay his hands on the man to heal him. 33 Jesus led him away from the crowd so they could be alone. He put his fingers into the man’s ears. Then, spitting on his own fingers, he touched the man’s tongue. 34 Looking up to heaven, he sighed and said, “Ephphatha,” which means, “Be opened!” 35 Instantly the man could hear perfectly, and his tongue was freed so he could speak plainly!

Observation:
Let’s see . . . God tells us to spit on our finger and put it on the tongue of the guy who can’t speak so well!! Let’s see a show of hands: How many would actually do that? One reason we see so few miracles is that we are unwilling to simply do what God tells us to do. We are more concerned about what people will think than we are about obeying.

Application/Confession: I like things in ministry to be normal, comfortable and predictable. The Holy Spirit, on the other hand, is supernatural, some times makes people uncomfortable and is never predictable. If I want to minister in His power, I had better learn to obey and respond even if it is outside of my comfort/normalcy/predictability zone.

PRAYER:
My greatest desire is to see people saved, healed, delivered and made whole. The ways You do that are certainly not always my ways. Teach me to obey You when You call me to act even when it may seem strange to my way of doing things. You are God and I am not.
