Friends In High Places

Reference: Mark 11:29 Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?” Peter replied, “You are the Messiah.

Observation: Our whole eternal life hangs on this question; “Who do you say I am.” Every human has to answer it for themselves. Even those of us who claim to be Christians have to face what we really believe about Jesus. Do we think of Him as our Savior and our Lord or simply our “friend in high places”? It is all too easy to become overly comfortable with Him and to stop feeling an obligation to obey and submit.
Jesus is Lord. He is our Savior, He is our friend but He is also our Lord and we must never forget it.

Application/Confession: There are times when I want the comfort of having Jesus as my Savior and friend but not my Lord or boss. I do not want to have to submit to Him but I do want to have Him in my life--on my terms. I need to always remember that Jesus is God and I must submit to His Lordship as well as accept His salvation.

Dear Lord Jesus, forgive me for taking You too lightly. You have the right to tell me how to live and I choose to submit to You as Lord as well as savior.
