Only When You Really, Really, Really . . . Want God
Reference: Psalms 42:1 As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God
Observation: How much, really, do we desire to have the presence of God’s glory in our lives? Imagine a deer, perhaps running for miles from a hunter, panting, longing for water. That is how much we should actually ache to have God’s presence in our lives. God comes when He is deeply desired. We live too often and too long in the cold formality of the mental knowledge of who He is without the warmth of His actual, emotional, personal presence.
Let’s allow ourselves to long for Him. If we do, He will come and satisfy this thrist.
APPLICATION/CONFESSION: I really do want His presence in my life. At the same time, it is so easy to get busy in life and have just enough time to do what discipline requires rather than what intimacy demands. I recognize that if I want the glory of His presence then I need to “hang out” in worship, prayer and meditation where He is. Only then will I experience Him being in my life. It takes desire.

PRAYER: I want You Lord. I really do, but give me the grace to want You even more.
