I'm Not Supposed to Be "Normal" (and neither are you)
Reference: Leviticus 20:26 You must be holy because I, the Lord, am holy. I have set you apart from all other people to be my very own. Observation: We are not like other folks. We may want to fit in. We may want to do what everyone else does but we are not “normal”. In fact, we are not even citizens of this world, we belong to heaven.
Most of us love the sense that we have a special place as part of God’s people but this honor comes at a price. We have to live up to who we are. Our Father, our boss (Lord), our King is holy; utterly set apart to doing what is right and righteous. We have no option, if we are going to be the people of God, expect to follow His example of holiness. Application/Confession: The desire to fit in is as powerful in me as it is in everyone else. The Oscars were on TV recently. The TV is filled with goings-on of the "rich and famous". It is so easy to start believing that all that vacuous stuff really matters as much as this world seems to say that it does.
I am set apart for more important things"things of the Kingdom, living in holiness"and my life must reflect this reality. PRAYER: Lord, give me the grace to see your Kingdom on earth. May I desire to be set apart. May I desire to be different than this world.
