DON'T STOP TRYING
Reference: Luke 5:4-7 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.” 5 “Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.” 6 And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear! 7 A shout for help brought their partners in the other boat, and soon both boats were filled with fish and on the verge of sinking.

Observation
: There will be times when we feel like we have “fished all night and not caught any fish”--that we have obeyed God and done all that we can do for Him with little to show for it. Often, in spite of that, God comes to us again, even when we are tired, even when we are discouraged, and asks us to let down our nets again. It is at that moment that our faith is tested. Will we obey? Will we believe again that our obedience can bring a good result?
The truth is, what God asks of us is obedience; that we will let down our nets, not that will take the responsibility to fill them--we can’t!! God is looking for the willingness to obey, even when it is hard, not success as this world sees it. He is looking for wet nets, not necessarily full nets. If we will obey, and keep obeying, in God’s timing we will see fruit. God has promised it; “you will reap a harvest if you don’t give up”!!
We need to take Him at His Word.

Application/Confession:
I am among those who can hesitate to obey when I haven’t seen fruit in the timing that I am looking for. It is so easy to use tiredness as an excuse. It is so easy to use; “I already tried it and it didn’t work” as a reason not to obey. I must always be ready to let down the nets again, at His command, and give God the chance to fill them.

PRAYER:
If You say, “try again” I will try again"even if I’m tired, even if I feel unsuccessful. I will to obey You and leave the results in Your hands.
