3/22/2010 - He Is Willing! Luke 5:12-13

He Is Willing!

Reference: Luke 5:12-13 In one of the villages, Jesus met a man with an advanced case of leprosy. When the man saw Jesus, he bowed with his face to the ground, begging to be healed. "Lord," he said, "if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean." 13 Jesus reached out and touched him. "I am willing," he said. "Be healed!" And instantly the leprosy disappeared

Observation: We all know that we have sicknesses of some kind (body, soul or spirit) that needs to be healed. Perhaps there is a deep pain in our hearts that won't go away. Maybe we can't possibly believe that anyone could really, deeply love us--that we are not worthy of such care from another. There may be areas of habits that lead us places we do not want to go.
We may wonder, as this man did, if God is willing to notice and act to bring healing to our woundedness. What a great thing to hear Jesus say here, not just to the leper but to all of us, "I am willing. Be healed." We need to hold on to that and believe that no matter what we are facing, He is willing to heal it.

Application/Confession: Satan taunts me with the accusation; "you got yourself into your problems, you will just have to get yourself out." And "God will love you and be close to you after you get over your problems, but not until you do". I need to feel the strength of Jesus telling me that He wants to heal me, right now, before I am perfect.

PRAYER: Jesus, I choose to believe that You do love me enough to heal me. Enable my heart to really understand Your amazing love for me. Will You come and heal me, by reversing the lie that You can only love me when I am perfect and serving You successfully. Show me, by Your power, that You love me even in my darkest moments.
