The Joys Of Discipline
Reference: Proverbs 12:1 To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction.
Observation: There are two kinds of discipline that we need to have to be successful; we must live our lives in a measured, planned, "disciplined" way; doing things we may not want to do because they are right and healthy for us. Secondly, we need to accept the discipline/correction that God and other bring into our lives. We may react to correction with such anger or other negative reaction that those around us learn to never offer us any. They simply are not willing to pay the emotional price. We need not just allow correction but to love it, knowing that it makes us better people.
Application/Confession: There are times I react towards being corrected with outward anger or inward dismissal. I want to love it whenever it comes, whoever it comes from. I want to value what it brings into my life.
PRAYER: Thank you that you correct me Lord. Please give me the grace to respond positively to the valuable correction you and others bring to my life.
