3/29/2010 - Deuteronomy 11:26-28 Getting The Blessing, Avoiding The Curse
Getting The Blessing, Avoiding the curse Reference: Deuteronomy 11:26 "Look, today I am giving you the choice between a blessing and a curse! 27 You will be blessed if you obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today. 28 But you will be cursed if you reject the commands of the Lord your God and turn away from him and worship gods you have not known before." Observation: Some may be tempted to believe that since the coming of Jesus Christ it simply does not matter how we live. Jesus has open the door to salvation and my actions, moral or not, simply don’t matter. The truth is that our moral choices do matter. While our sin may not keep us out of heaven, if we are trusting on Jesus as our savior, and our, so called, righteousness may not get us in, they do effect the level of blessing we live our lives with. Sin simply has consequences. This is a law written into the fabric of the universe. Right living has positive consequences. This is written into the fabric of the universe as well. Application/Confession: I want blessing on my life and the life of my family. I will choose to live in such a way that I can have that blessing. PRAYER: I need Your grace, Lord, to live right. Help me be who You want me to be--all the time. |
