4/17/2008 - The Kingdom Investment Policy Luke 18:29-30

    The Kingdom Investment Policy

Reference: Luke 18:29-30 "Yes," Jesus replied, "and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the Kingdom of God, 30 will be repaid many times over in this life, and will have eternal life in the world to come."

Observation: A couple of days ago we read that doing what the master tells us to does not give us the right to expect special honor or treatment. Here Jesus makes clear that while we do not have the right to demand anything of God, we are just doing our jobs as his servants, He has chosen to bless us when we sacrifice for Him.

Application/Confession: I hold to this verse. I believe I could have pursued a career that would have been more lucrative and, perhaps even, less stressful. God drafted me into the ministry! I’m not complaining, I am a happy draftee but I have given up the kind of home and car and bank account I could have had otherwise.

I choose to take God at His word and expect blessing in this life and in the life to come because of my sacrifice.

PRAYER: It is your promise, Lord, that if I have given up things to follow you that you will return them in this life and give me blessing in eternity. So, I humble ask you to fulfill your word and pour out a blessing I can not hold. Thank you for all you have already done--there is so much. Thank you that you have "found me faithful, calling me into service."

Why is it eternal in one part and only a 1000 years in another?
