    4/29/2008 - Is The Lord Your God Or Not? Psalms 100:3

    Is The Lord Your God Or Not?

    Reference: Psalms 100:3 Acknowledge that the Lord is God! He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

    Observation: This verse implies a very important question which has some very deep implications;

    Have you acknowledged that the Lord is God?

    We may have agreed that God is God, that He exists, perhaps even that we need His grace to get into heaven but where the rubber really meets the road is the issue of His absolute right to Lordship in our lives. He has every right to be our Lord, our boss. He made us and because of that He owns us. Our maker and our owner certainly has the right to demand authority over our lives. By the same token we have the absolute responsibility to respond to that authority.

    If He is in charge, then we are His people, His sheep. That means that we must submit to His guidance while believing for His provision. As His people, His family, we can expect that He cares about our needs. Like a father for a child He will not see them left unmet. But, like sheep, we can not be provided for if we do not respond to the direction of the shepherd. The shepherd can not lead the sheep to water or grazing grounds if they will not go. If we are not submitted to God’s leadership, He will not be able bless us as He would like to.

    Application/Confession: As I have confessed before, I have a heart that likes to go my own way. It is not that I want to sin all the time. I just want to do what I want to do. I want to live like I am in charge of my life instead of God.

    I know that this kind of attitude restricts the blessing I can receive from God. I want to have a heart that is fully submitted to the savior of my soul.

    PRAYER: I acknowledge that You Lord, are my God in every sense of the word. You have the right to tell me what to do and I look to you, I am dependant on you, to provide for me. Teach me, more and more, how to live in the attitude of full submission.
