When God Thinks About You
Reference: Psalms 103:10-14 He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve. 11 For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. 12 He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. 13 The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. 14 For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust.
Observation: From this verse we can see that God loves us unfailingly. He does not look at us through the prism of our sin but through His grace. He has a heart that cares about us and feels with us. He understands our weaknesses.
We condemn ourselves far more than God condemns us. He understands us far more than we realize. We remember our sin so very clearly, He has clearly forgotten that they ever happened. We judge His ability to love by our own and figure that He has run out of patience with us when He is just beginning to show His unending love.
We need to get so close to Him that, like David did, we find out what He is really like. Not the God others have told us about or that we have created in our own hearts and minds, but who He really is, revealed in scripture and to our hearts.
Application/Confession: I am so aware of my failings. I am just as sure that God is as frustrated and upset by them as I am. I forget about His loving kindness, mercy and grace. I want to understand His heart better so that I can enter His presence with confidence. Confident in the knowledge that I am a fully loved and cared for child--that He, the God of all the universe, truly understands me and my weaknesses.
PRAYER: I want to know you Lord. I understand so little of your grace, mercy and love. Help me. Teach me and lead me into that place where I truly know your heart.
