Telling People About Jesus In a Way That Really Works
Reference: Acts 9:28 So Saul stayed with the apostles and went all around Jerusalem with them, preaching boldly in the name of the Lord. 29 He debated with some Greek-speaking Jews, but they tried to murder him.
Observation: How should we tell others about what we have found in Jesus? We certainly should be bold, not offensive, but bold. We should certainly preach; proclaim what we know. We may proclaim it by our words; we may proclaim it by our actions, like serving others, or living as an example. We may simply proclaim it by demonstrating what the love of God is all about. Paul, in the enthusiasm that comes from new found belief, discovered what doesn’t work. You can not argue someone into the kingdom. It most often makes them angry and resentful. Rarely it may win over their mind, but the kingdom of God is not a mind issue it’s a heart one. It is possible to believe that Jesus came to be the savior but not be willing to accept Him for your life personally. If we really want to see someone respond to Jesus, debating is not the way to accomplish it.
Application/Confession: I just want to find those that God would put into my life that I can influence His way. I am asking everyday for those chances. When God does bring them by, I want to be wise in how I do relate to them. I do not want to waste the chances God may give me. I know that debate doesn’t work. It is the much harder work of being a light rather than being an arguer.
PRAYER: Lord today, again, I ask You to fill me with Your Holy Spirit and to bring along those who I can share You with. I desire, so much, to bring people closer to knowing You. Help me to do that.
