How You Treat Them Is How They will Be

REFERENCE: Proverbs 18:22 The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the Lord.

Observation: Here is an interesting thought: if we act as though our spouses are a treasure, a grace-filled favor from God. If we love them as the gift as they are in our lives instead of pointing out their flaws and complaining that they are not "like us", we may very well discover that they live up to our expectations instead of down to our rebukes.
A person who feels treasured acts out of love. A person who feels put down and devalued acts out of a need to reestablish their position of value and may resort to anger, demands, recriminations and, ultimately, bitterness.
There is great value in every human, including your spouse!! We should remind ourselves of that and live like it.

Application/Confession: I can find myself focusing on my wife’s perceived flaws. When I do so I can watch it let the air out of her and bruise her heart. I need to, even more, remind her of the gift she is in my life.

PRAYER: Lord forgive me for not treasuring more greatly the gift of my wife Gloria that you have given me. She really is a treasure and a grace/favor from You. Remind me to treat her like that all of the time.
