Being Imitateable
REFERENCE: 1 Corinthians 11:1 And you should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ.
Observation: Often we feel that to ask others to imitate us is prideful and dangerous. The truth is that many people, especially our families, are watching us and being influenced by how we live. Instead of resisting this, or pretending that it is not happening, we should do as Paul does and simply make sure our example leads others in a positive direction. The way to do that is as others are following us, we must follow close to Jesus.
It is a big responsibility any time we invite people to imitate us. They may really take us up on it! On the other hand, what a great possibility it presents; it offers a chance to show others how to live an effective life in Christ.
Application/Confession: I know that I am to be a leader and, as a leader, I need to be an example to follow. I also know that, at times, I am less faith-filled, less faithful and more frustrated and less peaceful and loving than I need to be if I want to be a good example.
PRAYER: Jesus I want to follow you. I want to be like you. I know that nothing good lies within me. I need you to live through me so that I can be the example that others can follow.
