Who I Really Am
REFERENCE: Isaiah 6:5 Then I said, "It´s all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy lips. Yet I have seen the King, the Lord of Heaven´s Armies."
Observation: It is in the presence of God Himself that we begin to discover what we really are. Since we live our lives surrounded by sinful people we tend to compare ourselves with them. Perhaps it seems "we´re not so bad; at least, not as bad as the guy next door." In the presence of God, all of that goes out the window. When we see Him in His glory and holiness, as Isaiah did, we can´t help but recognize how we don´t measure up to it. Ultimately, though, it is not for our condemnation. God wants us to see our lack so that we will ask Him to change it. Read on and see what happened to Isaiah. The angel come and cleansed his lips and dealt with his sin. That is just what God wants to do for us but only if we recognize that we need it.
PRAYER: Lord, may I spend enough time in Your presence to see myself as You see me. May I be humble enough to let You cleanse me and cure my sin problem. I can´t make it on my own. I need You.
