Get Ready For The Battle

REFERENCE: Ephesians 6:10-12 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God´s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places

Observation: How can we be strong in our relationship with God?
First by recognizing that we stand in His strength or not at all. Since we are fighting a spiritual battle, we need spiritual strength not human strength.

How do we get that strength? By using the tools God has given us to stand strong; praying in the spirit and using the Word of God as Jesus did to oppose the evil one. We must come to realize how powerful the Truth is, rightly applied to our own hearts and minds. Yet, not only to our ourselves, the Truth needs to be proclaimed to the spiritual powers. We are the ones who must remind those demonic beings the truth of who has won the battle and is now in charge (Jesus, not us).

More than anything we need to recognize that our fundamental battle is not against people or culture or political systems but against the spiritual powers behind each of those things. If the spiritual power is destroyed, the earthly power will collapse as well. We must never forget the great ability God has entrusted to us through prayer.

Application/Confession: I need to be more faithful to engage in spiritual warfare on behalf of my family friends and church.

PRAYER: Lord teach me both to stand strong and to stand against every evil force that would hurt those I love and care for. Teach me to be a warrior for You.
