Plow Up The Hard Ground
REFERENCE: Jeremiah 4:3 Plow up the hard ground of your hearts!
Observation: We can not cause God to plant “seed” in our hearts but what we can do is to plow it up " to make it ready and able to receive what God would want to put there. So much in live hardens us up, sin primarily, but also hard times, set back and even entertainment that exposes us to death, injury and emotional mayhem over and over. Our internal response, often, is to simply shut our emotions down and, because of it, when God wants to talk to us and grow something in us, it just rolls off our backs. We have become too hard to receive the Word planted in us.
How do we get softened again? Spend time in God’s presence, a lot of time, and allow Him to reveal the pain of those around us. Sadly, if we are not moved by other’s pain, God may allow us to experience our own in order to bring us to a soft state. How much better to cooperate with His work of education and change rather than having to learn by hard, hard, painful experience.
Application/Confession: Life has a way of hardening me up. I need to, regularly, get before God and let Him bring softness where ever hardness exists.
PRAYER: Keep me soft Lord. Keep me plowed up. I do not want to miss anything you have to give me or plant in me.
