No Work, No Eating
REFERENCE: 2 Thessalonians 3:10 Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: “Those unwilling to work will not get to eat.”
Observation: We may want God to meet all of our needs without any work from us. God requires us to work in order to receive His blessing. He could certainly make manna fall in our backyards but He knows that work is good for us. We were made for productive labor, in balance.
Those who simply want a hand out and are not willing to work should not be given it. We do no one a favor by teaching them that provision comes without labor.
Application/Confession: I certainly have no problem working. I am happy to work hard. What I have a harder time doing is to keep it in balance. I need to realize that if I do my part, and no more, God will do His. I can trust in that.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, teach me to trust You for provision. Remind me that it is You that is my source and I don’t have to wear myself out, doing more that You want me to, in order to be provided for. Forgive me for my lack of faith and trust in Your goodness, provision and, perhaps, your deep, real love for me.
