How To Find God
REFERENCE: Jeremiah 29:13-14 (NIV) You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the LORD, “and will bring you back from captivity.
Observation: When will we find God? When we seek Him with all of our hearts. No half-hearted search will do. Some say that there is no God. They claim that they can’t see Him, feel Him or experience Him. Perhaps they are not looking with the right methodology. One needs a microscope to see a virus and one needs a whole, searching heart to find God.
If we are dealing with captivity of any sort in our lives, the answer is to seek out God with all that we are. What usually causes captivity is that someone, or something, has captured a part of our heart that belongs to God alone. When we given ourselves over fully to seeking Him out, there is no place left of our heart to be captivated by anything else.
Application/Confession: If I want to free from captivity in any area I need to do more than to simply apply my will to be free. I need to seek Him out with all of my heart. That means I need to spend time, much time, simply in His presence in worship and prayer. I need to give the center focus of my life over to finding Him. When I do, I will also find complete freedom.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, I believe that I will find You and freedom from captivity when I seek You with all of my being. You have given me this challenge, I intend to pursue it. Give me the strength to do so.
