So You Think You’re Hot Stuff, Do Ya?

REFERENCE: Proverbs 27:2 Let someone else praise you, not your own mouth"a stranger, not your own lips.

Observation: This concept is so contrary to the culture we live in. We are taught; “if you don’t toot your own horn, it won’t get tooted!!” We are schooled in self promotion. We are encouraged to have reams of self-esteem and let others know about it.

God’s way, on the other hand, is to let others praise you. Just be who you are supposed to be and allow others to see that. If we believe, as it says elsewhere in Proverbs, that advancement comes from the Lord, then our main reason to promote ourselves is eliminated. We can relax, do our best, and let God deal with the rest.
