How to Make A Horse Drink
REFERENCE: Colossians 4:5-6 (NIV) Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
Observation: How are we, as Christians, supposed to relate to those who don’t know Jesus? First we are to be wise. We should be thinking about our interactions. We should be wise enough to know what is at stake and how our actions will effect our efforts to bring them to Christ.
Secondly, we are told to make of every opportunity; look for chances to share our faith, look for openings to serve and love them for Jesus’ sake.
Thirdly, our conversations should be both full of grace and salty. In other words, our responsibility is to put across a sense of acceptance, not condemnation, but also to lace it with just enough about how much God cares for them, or what God has done for us that they will become “thirsty” to hear more.
Application/Confession: I deeply desire more opportunities to share my faith. I am cultivating a couple of relationships with non-believers but I want to do so much more. I want to learn, by practical experience, what it means to do what the verse above says.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, make me a soul-winner. Teach me how to reach those You care for and love and help me know how to bring them into the Kingdom.
P.S. How do you make a horse drink? You put salt in his oats.
