My Sin And My Kids

REFERENCE: Ezekiel 20:26 I let them pollute themselves with the very gifts I had given them, and I allowed them to give their firstborn children as offerings to their gods"so I might devastate them and remind them that I alone am the Lord.

Observation: This is what we do when we sin; we take the very gifts God has given us (money, our senses, food, sex, etc.) and we use them to pollute our souls. We look at pornography, we overeat, we wear out our bodies working for just a little more money. The effects of our sins are seen in our children. We don’t offer them physically in sacrifice, but we wound them and damage them because of the sin that we allow.

God wants us to see the devastation that our sin causes us and our kids and repent, recognizing that He alone in charge, the LORD! This will benefit not only us but our children as well.

Application/Confession: I can fall prey to the lie that my sin is mine alone. I need to remember that when I sin I am opening the door to my children being cursed by my actions. I do not want that.

PRAYER: Lord, keep me clean. Give me the grace and power to obey so that my children will always be blessed.
