The Challenge of Love

REFERENCE: I Peter 1:22 You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart.

Observation: There is a relationship between being cleansed from our sins and loving each other. When we are under the guilt and control of sin it is hard to be concerned about anyone but ourselves. When we come to God not only do we have a new Father but we are vitally connected to a whole host of new brothers and sister. Family that we are called to sincerely love and deeply care for.

Application/Confession: Like many others, I find it harder to love people than to love God. God is always good to me and never fails me. It is not the same with people. Still, God calls me to love my brothers and sisters “deeply will all my heart”. If He asks me to, He can give me the power to do this all the time.

PRAYER: Lord, more and more, give me a deep love for my spiritual family. Even when I am hurt or let down, may I continue to love deeply and really.
