How to Be a Good Pastor/shepherd?
REFERENCE: 1 Peter 5:2-3 Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly"not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God. 3 Don’t lord it over the people assigned to your care, but lead them by your own good example.
Observation: This section of scripture is important to me as a pastor/shepherd. It reminds me how to do my job. I have to remember that the flock has been “entrusted to me”. It is a divine trust that I must take seriously. The people I lead are not mine, they are God’s. I am called to do my job, not out of obligation but because I have willingly responded to my commission. It is not my place to look to see what I can get out of it, but what I can give into it. I am not in my position to act as a dictator, using my authority to push people around, but to use it to provide tender care. The best way I can lead, by far, is by example.
