Purity today, miracles Tomorrow

Reference: Joshua 3:5 Then Joshua told the people, “Purify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do great wonders among you.”

Observation: Purity is a prerequisite to God doing wonderous things in our lives. It is not a matter of sin and punishment but, instead, when we are not living in purity our ears can not hear and our hearts can not respond. Note, as well, that the wonderous things come tomorrow and purity comes today. Sometimes we get frustrated because we have intently followed God for a short period of time and there seems to be no payoff. Remember that sowing and reaping happen in different seasons. Purity needs to happen today. Great wonders may be for tomorrow. We should not get impatient. After all, purity is it's own reward.

Application/Confession: I so much desire that God would do "wonders", in my life and in the church I pastor. I need to remind myself that He is looking for a submitted, pure heart that He can gives wonderful blessing to. 

PRAYER: Lord, teach me to be live in purity. Convict me when I begin to walk astray.
