New Clothes For A Dead Man

Observation: As we saw yesterday, the key to living this new life with Christ is not to discipline the old man but to put on the new one. How do we do that? First we need to recognize that it is a matter of taking one off and putting a new one on. It is a matter of transformation not reformation. That is why the spiritual disciplines are so important. As we, like this verse says, spend time getting to know our Creator through the Word, worship, prayer, meditation and fasting, we put on this new nature that is like Jesus. Secondly, we need to understand the profound power of simply being in His face. Like Moses, when we are around His glory and holiness, we start it on for ourselves.

Holiness, purity is all about who we know and not what we know. We change because He makes us like Him as we put on our new nature.

Application/Confession: I want to walk in greater purity. I need to priorize spending time with Him knowing that this will change me. I want to fully put off the old man.

PRAYER: I want to see you Lord. I want knowing You to be the biggest preoccupation of my life. Please make me more like You as I spend time with You.
