Giving Myself Away

REFERENCE:  I Thessalonians 2:8 We loved you so much that we shared with you not only God´s Good News but our own lives, too.

Observation: What do we have to offer others? Certainly the Good News that salvation is available to them, that God loves them, but we need to give them more--we need give them ourselves. It is too easy to stay distant and uninvolved with people. We withhold for self protection. We withhold simply because we are busy. We withhold because we have been hurt.

But what people need--inside and outside the church--is us: our love, our attention, a sense that they matter to us. That is why it is so important to invite people into our lives--our homes, our interests, our activities--let others become a part of those things as well. If we do, we will be able, more effectively, to influence them for the Kingdom.

PRAYER: Lord teach me to remember to ask You every day; "who do You want me to give myself to today". I want to be guided by your Spirit and not by guilt or demands.
