The Danger of Losing Focus
REFERENCE: II Timothy 2:4 Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the officer who enlisted them.
Observation: Here is a concept that we all seem to struggle with; the stuff of "life" stealing our focus from the purpose that God has for us on this planet. It is so easy to get caught up in the drama, or even just the business, of daily life and miss out on God's priorities. If we are going to keep ourselves from getting "tied up", it will require a constant and steady consentration on our devotional lives. If we will commit the first hour of every day to a pursuit of pray and the Word, we will never forget why we are here and we can stand against the pull of "civilian life". We must constantly remind ourselves that we are in a fight. The only way to win it is to stay fully involved.
Application/Confession: If you have been watching my blog recently, I have slipped in my "daily" commitment to reading and journaling. I guess the busyness of life has caught up with me too. I want to do better. I know that I have to focus well and not give up.
PRAYER: Help me Lord. You are my commanding officer. I want to please You. Help me to remember my purpose and to do all I can to fulfill it.
