12/19/2009 - Never Alone Psalms 138:7-8
Posted in Unspecified

Never Alone

REFERENCE:  Psalms 138:7-8 Though I am surrounded by troubles, you will protect me from the anger of my enemies. You reach out your hand, and the power of your right hand saves me. 8 The Lord will work out his plans for my life; for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever. Don’t abandon me, for you made me.

Observation:  At times, all of us can echo David's sentiment; "I am surrounded by troubles". It is in that moment that we need to remind ourselves of several important things:

1. It is not a question of who is against us--God is for us. He has promised to protect us from those who want to do us harm.

2. God is more than powerful enough to help us in our time of distress. Nothing, nothing is too hard for Him. And what is more, He made us and loves us, so not only can He save us, He cares enough to do so.

3. God has plans for our lives. Notice that God is not committed to achiveing our plans for our lives, but His. Still, how wonderful to know that no matter what we face, God has it under His control and He is working it all out.

4. Finally, He is always with us. He will not abondon us. No matter what it feels like, God is there to help us through.

Application/Confession: Truthfully, I like the plans I make for myself. It is a bit of a letdown to realize that God is working out His plans not mine, but that is the truth. I need to be at peace with that and figure out what He is up to so that I can cooperate with it.

PRAYER: Thank you Lord that You are committed to my best and working out Your plans for my life. Teach me how to cooperate with what You are up to with me.
