HOW ARE YOUR Ears?

Reference: Luke 8:18 “So pay attention to how you hear. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what they think they understand will be taken away from them.”

Observation: Be careful how you hear!! That is good advice for all of us. We too often forget that our ablity to hear more from God is completely tied in to our willingness to absorb and put into practice what He has told us so far. In fact, when we refuse to hear and respond, we begin to lose the ability to understand what God has already tried to teach us.

We have all met those who, at one time, understood a lot about God, but because of their unwillingness to "listen" they have lost what understanding they already had. It is a deep tragedy and one we all want to avoid.

Application/Confession: I hate to be told what to do. I always have. God has made it clear that this is nothing short of rebellion. He is calling me to listen with an absolute commitment to doing what He says to do.

PRAYER: Dear God. Conquer my rebellious heart. Teach me to be willing to respond when You speak to me. I want to be an obedient child.
