Why are not more people healed? why are so many still sick? I will answer because preachers do not preach the healing part of God's message as it should be preached, God will only confirm the gospel message that is believed in and people cannot believe what they haven't heard. Let me ask you have YOU heard and understood that when Jesus died on the cross He was bearing your sicknesses and carrying your diseases? "surely" that is what the prophet Isaiah said, he said it six hundred years before it happened read Isaiah. ch.53.vs.1-6 "surely....by His stripes we are healed." it is as sure as the fact that Jesus bore our sins on the cross, nobody doubts that, preachers preach that and God confirms the message when people believe it and come to Him in simple believing prayer.
*
On the cross crucified
in great sorrow He died
the Giver of life is He.
But my Lord is despised
and rejected of men
Oh this Jesus of Calvary
*
The price for healing it was paid
as those cruel stripes were laid
within Pilate's judgement hall
but His suffering it affords
perfect healing for all
Oh this healer of men today
*
But He was wounded for our transgressions
He was bruised for our iniquities
surely He bore all our sorrows
and by His stripes we our healed
*
He has healed my sick soul
He made me every whit whole
oh He'll do the very same for you
He's the same, yesterday and today and forever
oh this wonderful Healer is mine.
*
But He was wounded for our transgressions
He was bruised for our iniquities
surely He bore all our sorrows
and by His stripes we are healed.

You ask have I heard the gospel of healing preached? Have you heard of the Word of Faith movement, Totten? I came out of that movement because what it taught me was that if I wasn't healed it was because of either sin in my life or my lack of faith. Great guilt/condemnation. Of course not to mention we have to muster up enough faith ourselves for this healing to take place. No glory to God, there. No gospel preached either. I never heard the cross preached only pentecost. Something back to front?
That's what happens when we live with an over- realized eschatology and don't understand the tension that exists between the now and the not yet.

Hi Rhonda
Never mind the word of faith movement ,God never told you to, go to God's word and mind what He says.
Isaiah was not in the word of faith movement, he wrote down God's word "surely He hath borne our infimities and carried our sicknesses." That's gospel, that's Jesus Who was beaten at the whipping post "by Whose stripes we are healed." You believe He bore your sins, you recieved that didn't you, well that's what the gospel proclaims. You had to discover it for YOU personally didn't you? you did not recieve forgiveness through the word of faith movement, or peace or joy or anything else. But here it says "Himself bore our infirmities" in the very same scripture, if you accept one part of it why do you not accept the other. Don't stumble on it, even if you can't realize it-there is plenty I can't realize but I don't therefore deny the truth. I'm gonna believe it still and if I need to I'm going to believe it till I do recieve the realization of it.
It's just as hard to believe in provision when you don't have any money or any prospect of getting any money and you are facing destitution. I've been there, I didn't go to any word of faith movement, I started banging on God's door and I didn't stop banging until I got what I needed [which was a month's rent.]I know how tough it is when you are in the situation, and how glibly some people will fob you, enough to bring tears, but God's word remains unalterable and as unchanging as He is.

Hi Susanne,

God does heal people in His sovereign grace but not all are healed in the now and in the now we still die. When Jesus returns and we are translated and glorified death will be overthrown and there will be no more sickness or sorrow. That is what I meant when I said you have an over-realized eschatology, which is simply a matter of not understanding the text in context, amen.

If you were a sinner and you read "The Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all"
And Hi by the way, God bless you.
but still you were a sinner, would you use the same argument?
I understand your argument very well and it is true many christians claim promises that relate to a future age, but healing is not one of them.
It would be a very great mistake if I had a sin that had dominion over me and so took this as evidence that God has sovereignly allowed or willed it to be so. Now the word of the prophet said "surely...He hath borne our diseases and carried our infirmities."
Did Jesus ever "sovereignly" not heal anybody who asked Him? He is the express image of God, the works that His Father did He did also, He healed all who asked Him. It's a gospel blessing.
Now not all are healed, but so also not all are saved. Some people are saved but not healed. Now rather than put the blame for that on either God or the person desiring healing, I would rather say that the weakness is in the ministry [hopefully it can be said gently without causing offence-after all none of us is perfect] we are discussing a doctrine subjectively here, but Jesus was stood at the pillar and was cruelly flogged and "by His stripes we are healed."
If no-body stood to preach salvation from sin at the cross, no-body would be saved.
If healing is not preached in exactly the same terms, [since it is contained in the same word of promise and the same act of salvation]no-body will be healed.
There are many ills in the "word of faith" movement I see that would prevent the Holy Spirit from authenticating the ministry, never-the-less God's word stands "by His stripes we are healed." since we will not require healing in heaven the promise must relate to this age.
Thanks for your discussion, I appreciate it and may God bless you.

Its such a blessing this evening to hear the message of the cross being
preached. When the message of the cross is left out we have a desolate
message. When the message of the cross is left out we have no message
and no deliverance at all.
By his stripes we are healed and by his stripes alone.
Here in America it is not often I hear the message of the cross being
preached never mind our sin nature and need for true repentance.
I am a sinner saved by grace not by works..I was a sinner before I came
to Christ...and I am still a sinner..the difference is through Christ, I am
no longer in bondage to sin.
I praise your holy name Lord Jesus for there are still voices crying in the
wilderness.
Bless you dear sister. I was born in England ,haven't been back in years
but am sad to hear of the discontent.

Hi

I am sorry to have missed your comment, I do scan my little treatise's carefully in order to catch comments and reply, for some reason some comments on JH seem to escape my [eagle :)] eyes.

For nearly 1500 years the message of the cross was submerged [not that it can be] beneath the swamp of sacramental idolatory and the traditions of and doctrines of men, God will not share His glory, His word was given and is plain to be read and understood by a child if he has a desire to understand it.

That is to say that what Jesus suffered on Pilates porch at the whipping post and on that wretched journey of sorrow and agony to Golgotha's hill, His being brutally nailed to the cross and left to die in shame and ignomy,

This He did on our behalf~so that we don't have to.

He bore our sins, He bore our sicknesses, He bore our death.

He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. Any that hath need, let them come
