Bathroom SafetySo you know that I have a sense of humor that at its worst is quite twisted at times, at the least bazaar and at its best completely random, and I find TV ads to be a great source of entertainment. I do not know how many of you have seen these ad's but they have been playing a lot over here lately. The ads for the bath tub specially designed for elderly who have difficulty getting in and out of a regular tub.
First of all, I love the how dramatic these ads are, they make it sound like the bathroom is something right out of a horror movie, and second of all, they also act as if the ability to take a bath is the only problem confronting the elderly who are struggling to be self-sufficient and independent, and all you have to do is get one of their tubs and that will solve all of your problems. But the thing that really got to me, is at the end of the ad the spokesman is standing before one of their rubs, talking all about bathroom safety and how easy and safe their tubs are, and all the while he is giving this spiel he is holding balanced on the edge of the tub something that looks like an electric heater and whenever I see that it just strikes me as the funniest thing, though of course it really isn't an electric heater, it is some water tank thing, that is included with your tub if you call now. But the idea of talking about being safe in the bathroom while holding an electrical device over the bathtub is truly classic. 10:18 PM - 7/22/2009 - post comment
