The Lost ShadowThe Lost Shadow
Consciously I let
one flame burn away
which has for so long
always been, but dead lights
while another ignites
from its form dim
flickering...
a trading of memories
when old obsessions
must finally die
(perhaps temporarily)
another taken in full passionate
earnest
to be carried
in stoic silence
a private tragedy.
But you are there
somewhere among
the cosmic sphere
perhaps now lost forever
(a shooting star)
It is always the Judas touch
that I seek
forsaking the obtainable
for what hovers
(moth-wings)
just out of reach.
Our moments
were vanquished
but I long again
for that forbidden taste
(we are all chalice seekers of a kind)
I quest for shadows,
a shadow
that looms
monumentally
before me
if only you knew
could know
(the irony)
that I have survived
because of you,
already in the dark gloom
I hear a chuckle
but perhaps you would shudder
at a potential goodness,
an offer of light
squashed away.
I needed to embrace darkness
you languished upon a tragedy queen
and calluses grew on top of scars
so I am but an echo
of your words
which follow me.
While you may rise
I fall,
but somewhere
in the middle
we still recognize ourselves
if only the strings of fate
can be resewn
where we both
ignorantly severed the flow.
