Buried Alive

Feel the darkness closing in
feel the air growing thick
thick the feeling of apprehension
thick are walls closing in
in the earth I descend
in this horror I am submerged
submerged below the ground
submerged within my fear
fear constricting my throat
fear seeping through my bones
bones are those now surrounding me
bones what I will become
become only the suffocating dust
become a twisted corpse
corpse-like in my agony
corpse eyes watching
watching me slowly dying
watching silent screams
screams never to be heard
screams inside my mind
my mind starting to collapse
my mind pleading
pleading someone will find me
pleading against insanity
insanity perhaps will set me free
insanity my only sanctuary
sanctuary in this horrible quiet
sanctuary of frightening darkness
darkness the utter absence of light
darkness of hellish nightmares
nightmares breaking down my reserve
nightmares drive mad escape
escape from this suffocation
escape the crushing earth
earth now turned against me
earth I try to claw my way through
through breaking nails
through my trickling blood
blood pounding in my ears
blood tasted on my lips
lips parched as the desert
lips tasting terror
terror imprisoned in this box
terror slips through my body
my body thrashing in confinement
my body contorted grotesque
grotesque this awful plight
grotesque my stolen life
life slipping away
plight of the premature grave.
