Druidism

Posted in Arcane

Drudism is one beleif system which highly influences my own beleifs and what I practice, I hold Duridism in very high reguard, though there is little known about the anceint Duridism, there are today some mondern orders of Druids, I thought I would share what knowlege I have of my understanding of Duridism.

It was the relgion that was practiced by the Celts before the Roman Empire, the Druids themselves held many different roles within the community, they were highly respected and often acted as advisoers to the Kings, of the clans. They were the priests, storytellers, and educators. They both worshipsed and stuided nature. And they were the ones that passed down the oral history to the people. Bard was in fact one of the ranks with the Druadic order. Druidism was of course very earth based and held nature and all life in high regaurd and resepct. But trees were particuarly sacred to Druids, and different trees were seen as having different speiacal properties. Druids often worked within sacred groves.

There has been some speculation or theory that the great stone ciricles such as Stonehenge were built by the Druids, but in truth Stonehenge and other such places predated Druidism, but were used by the Druids. Another air of mystery and speculation around Druids is human sacrifice, it is true that Druids did partake in human sacrifce, but the offeres of sacrifice tended to be either, a person who is guilty of a crime, a prisoner of war, or one who voulenteers to be the sacrifice. The way they sacrifce was held that they would build this wooden man and the safrice would be placed inside, within the fire they would throw in speical herbs that would rise up in the smoke and knock the person out before the fire even touched them. Another speculated method of sacrifice, as to put the sacrifce upon an alter and kill them with a ceremoneal dagger.
