TarotThere are a couple things I would first like to clear up about the Tarot, based upon my own understanding and experience with Tarot, as I both read and collect the cards. One of the reasons why I think a lot of people have a problem with Tarot, is because they misunderstand just how the cards work. The Tarot does not in fact give out specific exact information, that is the cards are not going to tell you, that at such in such a time, on such and such a day, standing on this street corner this is going to happen to you. That is something that people should have a problem with if anyone claims they can do that. For there is a Pagan saying "Nothing is written in stone" things can change, but what the Tarot does do is it helps give insight and clarification on problems a person might be dealing with, it helps to guide your path, and can give information you might not have. For an example if you are in a relationship that you are not certain about the Tarot might give you warning signs that perhaps you should not completely trust this person.
The Tarot is not meant to tell you what to do, you still must choose for yourself, but it can advise you and show you where each path might possibly lead, it is then your job to interpret that information and look upon the signs around you of what is going in your life to choose which way would be in your best interests. Another element concerning the Tarot which is greatly misunderstood is the death card. It is true that many decks, though not all, have a death card, but it does not mean you are anyone you know is physically going to die. The death card most often is a card of change, it symbolized the coming of an end to something. It could be a job, relationship, phase of your life, and so one. And with that end of one thing, it allows another thing to begin. Tarot has existed in many different cultures and many different time periods, and I have decks from different times and places, I find that each deck has its own use, for different cards read differently. I use both pre-existing spreads, that is spreads I get from books about Tarot and so forth, and I also use some of my own spreads. For those that do not know the Tarot, a spread is just the way you lay down the cards. 12:57 PM - 3/27/2006 - post comment
