I have always hated the Diamond ads, and there is this one jeawler in particuarly who has really annoying commercials but I cannot remeber what they were called, but I have always found the diamond commercials to be shallow and insulting to both men and women, and relationships in genreal.
There is this one that I remeber that really got under my skin when I saw it, there is this couple and they are in Paris or something like that, and they are standing in a palaza or something of that sort and the guy starts telling the girl how much he loves, and he starts shouting "I love this woman" and I thought that was kind of sweet and romantic, but she was being a totally bitch about it and trying to get him to stop and acting like he was being an idiot who was embrassing her, and then from his coat pocket he pulls out a diamond and gives it to her, and then everything ok and she is all happy.
I beleive the way the diamond ads are set up premote the idea that love is matieralistic and has to be bought in someway, it gives the message that men need to buy expensive gifts for thier women in order to make them really happy, and just as well, they give the message that women only really care about the materlistic things they can get out of a relationship.
I think they should redesign thier ads to try and inccoperate some of the trues aspects of love and romantisim while premoting thier product, instead of just being cads about it.

oh yeah
you know you're totally right about the ad companies needing to redo advertisments for diamonds. It really degrading and teacky. Makes women seem like a purchasable commodity.
