Summertime Love
Your love was a summertime
kind of love, it was warm and good
for a while, like the girls dancing in
the sun, but just like the season it
would pass.
Blown away like autumn leaves in
the chill October breeze, now I know
with the fading light, that your smile
will be gone from sight.
I wished you would have stayed
for a winter romance dark and gray
but long long lasting, but I cannot
cry too much, memories like spring
flowers are bright but short living.
So I will play in the rain, and rejuvenate,
I know it was just a summertime kind of
love, sweet and warm, but short lasting,
like May flowers, that cannot stay.
