Winter Tree
Winter winds pale the
sky, beneath their shades
of gray and white.
Within the semblance
of death, a hidden beauty
is found.
The sky is starch and
the ground blanketed in white,
while stands an oak lone,
tinted black again the blankness.
From branches outstretched
the ice makes it home, catching
in the faint light to shine bright
and illuminate the landscape.
Captured in just the right moment,
when it seems to be most alive
in its own quite repose.
