Kraken
Deep beneath the stormy waters
it lay asleep in the darkest depths
awaiting for the time it might heed
the call and rise again to rein over all
its grim terror.
So many names it has been bestowed,
in fable and tale through lips who claimed
to have seen and lived, it passed, how
so many a brave seaman would be left
aquiver with just the hint that it stirs.
Greater then tempest rising,
more fearsome then all the natural
creatures of the sea and air, ready to
swallow whole those who venture too
deep within its watery realm.
No nightmare so vivid and alive,
to make such men give cry,
Davy Jones seen as a welcome reprise
against that which lurks and waits.
It knows no mercy or emotion of any
kind, it only knows its cravings for the bones
of those who dare to test there will and wit
against it, and turn asunder the warning of
many a sagely sailor.
So it would open its eyes,
and come from the deep,
to claim the foreseen price,
and what hope might have been had
soon to die when the Kraken
is reveled.
