Fame and Fortune
We all want fame
and we all want fortune
we all have dreams of
making a big scene,
but deep down we all know
its shallow,
and I would live in poverty
if it meant I could live
in love forever.
We all have visions
of living big,
we all desire great big cars
and million dollar houses
to swim in a bath tub filled with gold,
but deep inside we know its hollow,
and I would be poor in material
value if my life were rich.
Sometimes we find what we are
looking for, and then we know
what is behind the smoke screen,
and everything we thought we were
seems to fade away.
we worked so hard
with all the blood, tears and sweat
to stand at last under the
big spot light
only to find something is missing,
so we do the drugs and all the women,
starve ourselves and gorge
on attention just to fill the void
so all I want is to sleep every
night in your arms and
say goodnight.
